Bruges, the most favourite city of Eena in Belgium. And not by coincidence, it is a truly beautiful place to be! There are many places to see and visit, as also many things to do. Boat rides on the canal is always a good way to see parts of Bruges. You get your guide on board and he/she will give you all the info you need along the way trough this romantic city of chocolates, museums, beer and many more. There is even a beer museum you can go visit. It's still a shame that we weren't able to experience it, but i'm sure we will be able to in the future. But that aside, let me show you our tour there and how I hope it can inspire people to go there and enjoy it as much as we did
From the station we took a bus that brought us straight to the Grote Markt (Grand Market). When you enter the Grote Markt, you will truly see the beauty of it all. On the one side you have the city’s Belfort, a beautiful architectural piece of history. Looking on your other side you will find the Historium Brugge, they have the best way to show you the history and glory of Brugge and it's past. You can either pick a tour with the headphones, or the tour with the virtual reality even. We did the headphones one and I must say it was wonderful. At the end of the tour you can go up the side of the building and take a good look over the market below and what must be the best view of the historic city.
As we turned around the corner we saw a street full of stores, chocloates everywhere!
Little souvenir shops are all around and the view made us feel like we just stepped into a fairytale kingdom. Passed by the city hall and street musicians playing, we came at the Vismarkt. Filled with lovely paintings of artists we had more eye for the little bridge where we could see the boat rides on the canal. A beautiful place to take a picture and stand still for a minute
Coming out on the market again after seeing more of Bruges we realised that it was almost done. The strange thing was that I didn't even recongnised it at first, because it was all cleared out already. Not a single stand on the square anymore and just filed up with tourists again. This was really one of the best places that we have been to. Even though I'm not from there and I love my city so much, I know it has such a beauty and it's definitely worth visiting.
If you need to propose or have a romantic time with a loved one, Brugge is the place to be. I know it has already stolen Eena's heart and mine, so I hope it will do the same to you. Let it be a checkpoint on your next journey to Belgium, and that it may bring you as much happiness as it did to us. One day we will be back and then we will ride that boat! But until then the memories and pictures of it will have to do.
