First of all, WOOHOO! My first music festival ever and what’s even greater is it is not even just a simple festival, because it is Rock Werchter! I loved it so much that even though it is tiring, I wish we could go there each time of the year. But as we all know, all good stories comes to an end as well. Never the less, let me share this experience with you and enjoy it together.
Day 2: First part of our day was walking around and discovering Belgium. Then it happened, we took the train to head towards the festival. Only it wasn't the trip we had planned, we stepped on the wrong train and arrived two hours later in the wrong station. Already with all hope lost to see Oh Wonder or Daughter we still rushed onto the good train and on the bus to the festival ground. When we have finally arrived, we missed as good as the whole thing. Only three songs left to hear from the back of the crowd, and Daughter was also a no-go. So in that day we just decided to stay a bit and enjoy the festivities and later on went back to our place and save our energy for the next day.
Day 3: This was going to be a good day, nothing like what we had before. We started to already go into the mass of people singing along with Band of Horses as we wanted to have a good spot for Two Door Cinema Club(whom Eena waited for as long as she could remember).
What a great performance, I didn't expect it to be this good and indeed I may say that they truly are a great band! The stage was filled with big square mirrors, surrounded by coloured lights. Nothing else was needed to show their talent and energy. So indeed a good comeback from them and they even sang two of their new songs and who knows once they release their new album we might watch again, because TDCC can just make the crowd dance and sing and even jump the entire time!
Next on was PJ Harvey, for me a more unknown musician, but I loved it. Such love and pureness of the music, it was perfect to enjoy and stand still for a moment. I think this was the most surprising band of all for me. And in Eena’s words it was like a holy ceremony, because of PJ’s dark yet enchanting performance.
Then the last one for our third day was Tame Impala, and let me say this…oh my god! This was what I think the best crowd of all, everyone sang along with every song and danced all throughout the setlist. No words will do good for what they performed. On top of all that they closed the evening in confetti and magnificent lights. It was like a heavy rainfall of magic, how I want to be there again. (Oh and we missed Red Hot Chilli Peppers for them and we did not regret at all!)
After that we went to sleep and planned our final day at the festival, because it will really be a big one! Which is why don’t miss the finale of our Rock Werchter adventure here!!
